Contemporary Construction will help you plan your home from any special needs of your home site, up to move in day. When we can be involved with your new home from site selection on, we will make the new home construction process more enjoyable without costly surprises.

Before we start designing we will meet you on the future home site to discuss what types of homes will best fit there. We will then take elevation readings so we can plan for slopes, special foundations, and how to best use soils that are on site.

Next we begin designing from your ideas. Sometimes people bring us several ideas from different plan books. Often they see a kitchen they like in one plan, a master bed/bath plan somewhere else, and then a different type of main floor plan that they would like to fit together. Special views and slopes on the site need to be considered while looking at room placement as do exterior access and decks. This is a great starting place for us to start developing a floorplan using our 3D drafting program.

We will then work on the main floor plan. This usually takes a couple meetings. I will take your ideas, draw up a floor plan, then have you come out and review it. I can email a drawing for you to look over before you come out for the review. I can send you these drawings in bitmap format which allows you to use any paint program to view them. This often saves time, as many times you may see a few changes you would like me to make before you come out for your review.

Once we have a main floorplan developed and you feel comfortable that we will be able to create a design to your liking I ask for a $1,500 (fifteen hundred dollar) print deposit. The print deposit will become part of your down payment if you decide to build with Contemporary Construction. In essence, the print will cost you nothing if you build with Contemporary Construction.


A price for your newly designed home will be by a “piece by piece” bid. Each of our sub contractors will bid the home with the materials and finish you have specified. You will be given a seven to eight page document along with a set of the prints to specify what is included in the price of your new home. This will be a firm and contractual price. The only way that the price can change to you once you have signed a purchase agreement and the new home specification sheets is for you to make those changes.

If the first price does not meet your budget, you may have us change materials or even redesign the home plan to get it to meet your budget. There will be no extra design costs as long as you build with Contemporary Construction.

Normally, construction financing is included in the price of your home. There are times when we have more projects under construction than we have funds available, or buyers wish to do their own construction financing. We will be happy to discuss any option with construction financing you may think of.

Building can now begin once all documents are signed, short and long term financing is arranged, and site conditions allow.
